Born in the Southern states
of the US in the 1960's, I was always struggling to keep up with what
was going on outside my little country town with music and films. I
have always tried to play catch up with the arts by wanting to
understand & take in all that I could.
Modern music and film history is what I love.
In the late 70's I was ' the only punker in the village." I hung around one movie theater so much watching films that the manager told me I might as well work there. I was taught film projection and put my way through college doing it. Watching movies all day was great because this was before the VCR.
By the 1980's
I had my own local radio show playing all kinds of tunes. After starting a punk rock/ new wave show, I used the name Ron Nasty. (It fit- Johnny Rotten, Richard Hell, Sid Vicious)
Next I did
some work in film, mostly crowd scenes and helping behind the set, until I started working in TV where I work today.
I enjoy all kinds of music, but prefer synthpop, futurepop and
dance-industrial. I like indie and local music. I love all kinds of
films from old silent films to modern indies. Movies from other
countries are an important way to learn about how the world around us
is thinking.
And yes I still live in the South in the US.
