So, we have had Rosie, our Bunny hunter since July. She is about 8 mths old now. She is tall enough to reach up on her hinds and pull food off the table. She is obsessed with watching out the sliding back doors to spy the innocent bird sitting in the tree right by the deck....instinctively she scratches frantically on the glass door to get out to the unsuspecting bird. And when we let her out....the bird flies away...everytime!!!
I think she suffers from short term memory loss because she does the same exact thing everytime.....everyday....multiple times a day.
And as for the bunnies. Most beagles who follow the scent on the hunt for their prey howl...well our talented Beagle yelps. She yelps uncontrollably with a high pitch...somewhat annoying yelp....actually, a really annoying yelp....while all along her tail wags back and forth at a frantic pace. It sure is a sight....and I know my neighbors really....love it!!!
The other day she tracked, and yelped, and tracked and yelped. Before I knew it she was chasing a bunny....Success!!! She was a foot behind the petrified bunny....running with all her might...I thought my next sight (along with the 5 children playing on my driveway) would be Rosie holding the bunny in her teeth.
But it wasn't. Not that I would know what to do if she really caught a bunny. They ran and ran....right through the ELECTRIC invisible fence...across the street. DOn't know if she even felt the....."punishment". I know the bunny didn't. They were on the neighbor's grass and the bunny was small enough to escape through a narrow space in the fence. Rosie was not...
Luckily, I caught her mid yelp.
The bunny hunter still needs a little perfecting...but all in all....I have good vibes about this spring's garden!!!
I am not sure about the electric fence!
