I was born August 23, 1961 in what I consider to be the most beautiful place in the world...Moab, Utah. God painted the landscape in the most vivid, magnificent colors and scenery imaginable. I think if there is a heaven, it must be there!
I am the mother of one, Carson , whom is 29 and is now a father to two fantastic little boys, Jayden and Issac. Well, to say the least I certainly don't feel like a grandmother. This is Carson with Issac on the left and Jayden on the right. Aren't they adorable!
I've lived in Okinawa, Japan for the last 13 years (I do love the U.S.). All these years here and I still don't speak very much Hogan (Okinawan). Life here is very slow paced for the most part but in the last few years we have seen tremendous changes in the lifestyle here. Still, you can see the locals working out in the fields with what we consider ancient tools or a man traveling down the road in his wagon lead by a bull loaded with sugar cane. Guess that's why I've been here so long!
My interest are many...jack of all trades, master of none...that's me! There are far to many things to do and learn in this life to be dedicated to one or just a few interests. I love reading, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, walking the beach, belly dancing, bowling, knitting, crochet, sewing, cooking, riding the Harley, hiking, gardening, investing, web design, painting, animals (especially Sheba and Tater Bug
I could go on forever....
Mike and I have been partners for the last 9 years. It is wonderful to have a person in your life that shares the same interests, ideas, dreams, and more than anything I couldn't have a better friend.
This is from one of my trips home to Moab. Growing up with three brothers and me the only girl I had to learn to play hard!
This is our house on Okinawa. It's the only geo dome on the island so it fascinates everyone.
One of the things that is so cool to me is growing my own bananas! They're alot smaller than the ones you buy in the store. The trees I assume are half the size also. Mike and I love to go to Big 1 Resort and race the go carts. It brings out the evil in me! I think I'm Tony Stewart in the Daytona 500! Really, I have no mercy!
A couple of our friends built these rail runners here. Kirk thought he would scare the shit out of me. I had to inform him that I was from the 4X4 capital of the world! Probably wouldn't be anything that I hadn't done already!
Mike plays the drums so I get alot of concerts at home. I keep trying to learn but I just can't seem to cordinate moving my hands and feet together! I think I'll stick to playing drums on my steering wheel! One of our favorite pass times to do when we get the chance is to go out on don's boat fishing. I've only caught Mahi Mahi but our friend Don (Pickle)caught this!
Mike's Mahi Mahi, not bad!
Driving the boat
Yeap, it has grown a bunch! If you think it has changed for you in 5 years...try 40 for me! Of course as I grew up and moved to other places, most of my family still resides there so I frequent Moab as often as possible.
SAD, SAD, SAD to say...that my grandfather (before he passed away) tried like hell to get everyone in the family to buy property there when Atlas Minerals basicly shut down and went to a skelton crew. You could buy a 4-5 bedromm home(brick) with land for as low as $25,000.00 dollars (people couldn't move out of Moab fast enough)! Well, dumb asses that we were couldn't even imagine buying a home in a town that was soon to ghost! KICK MYSELF EVERYDAY FOR THAT BLUNDERING MISTAKE! Shit I've been looking at property there to buy now...barely can touch a delaplitated trailer for $120,000.00!
My brother just recently bought a older small home on 1 ½ acres for $200K (has to put in all the work and money to refurbish on top of that)...the day of signing his papers some guy called the agent about the property and offered $235K.
Need I say more, F_ _ _ !!!!!!!!!
If you placed a chunk of it easy of the Mississippi, they'd pave it and put up a parkin lot. :) Funny thing about Moab though is how much it seems to have exploded between our first visit there in, oh, about 95 or so, and our second visit in about 2000. Maybe our memory was just rusty, but we remembered Moab as this little 5-block town in the middle of Mars, but found a 5-mile hopping extreme sports metropolis in the middle of Mars. At least it's still in the middle of Mars, though.
