Working with Your Pages

The WildVoice web site gives you lots of capability to personalize your pages and your channels. Follow these steps to edit your WildVoice Home page

1. Sign In

The first step in personalizing your site on WildVoice.com is to sign. in.

When you visit the WildVoice home page notice in the upper right corner of your screen there are some useful links. If you have an account on WildVoice.com simply click the "Sign In" link.

 

2. After clicking the "Sign In" you will be brought to the login page. Login to the site by entering your username and password. Then click the Login button. If you'd like to be automatically logged in next time you visit the site, click the "remember login" checkbox before you login.

You'll notice once you've signed in that the links at the top right of the page now show  your name and the option to "sign out"

 

3. You may also notice that the main site menu has changed. It now displays the "My Site" menu which shows links directly to your own pages within WildVoice.com.

 

Click on an choice in the "My Site" menu and you will be brought to the pages you can manage on WildVoice.com. In the examples that follow we will look at editing your Home page, so click on the My Site -> Home menu choice to go to your Home page.

 

4. Your Home will be shown to you so that you may edit it and add your own content. The each page in WildVoice.com is made of building blocks that you can control. We call these building blocks modules. When you view your own pages, each module will present special links and menus to you so you can edit and manage your pages. Other users who view your pages will only see your content, they won't see the special controls.

 

 

5. As an example of editing your page, let's take a closer look at the Site Banner module. The Site Banner lets you customize the Heading of each of your pages displayed in WildVoice.com. The Site Banner will display a photo you choose (think of it as your own site logo) and the Title and Tagline you specify. The Site Banner will be displayed on each of your pages.

When you view your own page, the Site Banner module is highlighted with a yellow control bar. In the control bar you'll find a link labeled "Edit". Click the Edit link on the Site Banner to customize your Site Banner.

When you edit your Site Banner you are taken to an edit page. This page lets you specify the Title and tagline you want to use for your pages. Remember, anything you select for the Site Banner will be displayed at the top of all of your pages.

 

 

6. Give yourself a Title and Tagline. These will be part of your "calling card", people who see your site and listen to your shows will recognize your Title and tagline. If you want to include a photo or a logo on your pages, click the button for "Include a Picture" to Yes.

When you select Yes for including a picture the file selection control is displayed. You'll use this to specify the picture you want to use as your logo.

 

7. The most common way you'll use the file selection control is to upload files from you computer (like your Podcasts or your own photos), so click the Upload link to upload a new image for your WildVoice site banner. Uploading files to WildVoice.com is a three step process.

Upload Step #1. Choose a file to upload

To upload a photo or image file you'll need to select one from your computer. Click the Browse button to look at the files you have on your computer and to select one to upload to WildVoice.com.

 

Depending on what type of computer you are using the method you use to select files will vary. If you are a Windows User you should see the "Choose file" window that lets you select files from your computer. Windows users will likely find their collection of photos in the My Documents folder and in their My Pictures folder. Browse to your picture folders and select the image you want to use for your site banner. When it is selected, click Open.

 

Upload Step #2. Choose one of your personal folders on WildVoice.com to save your file

Now, you've selected the file, but it still has to be uploaded to WildVoice.com. The next step is to select one of your personal folders on WildVoice.com in which to save your file. Since this is a photograph, the default images folder is probably a good choice.

 

Upload Step #3. Click the Upload button

The last step in uploading a file is to click the Upload button and wait a bit for your file to be sent to the WildVoice servers.

8. Now that your file is uploaded you'll see that the file selection control displays the photo you uploaded. At this point, you've set your Site Title, Tagline, and Photo for your Site Banner. Now click the Update button at the bottom of the page to make the changes to your WildVoice Site.

Now your Site Banner will be displayed with the customizations you've specified.
