Help Setting Up Microphone

I've tried open Sound Recorder, but it shows that there's no sound input from my microphone...
Anyone can help pls? Thank you in advance.

Double check that you are plugged into the correct port on your sound card. Red is usually microphone, Blue is usually Line In.
Then use Windows Volume Control to make sure the correct Record device is not muted.

Thanks for your reply, Michael. You're very kind.
I've read the FAQ, it doesn't solve my problem.
However, I'm very sure that I've plugged into the correct port of my sound card.
I'm very sure that my record device is not muted.
I've tried open the voice recorder, and it shows that no voice is received from my microphone.
I use the microphone and plug into my laptop and it works. As soon as I plugged in, my laptop detected it.
(The specification I posted above is my desktop PC)
So, my question is that, is it the SoundCard problem of my desktop PC or my soundcard driver problem which cannot detect my microphone?
FYI, my mixer device is SigmaTel Audio. Thank you!
