The WildVoice Newsletter - Volume 5
Monday, December 18, 2006
Hey Folks,
We've been busy, but now we have too much news to hold back any longer. There have been big changes at WildVoice and we wanted to let you all know before all that egg-nog clouds your vision.
So, without wasting any more of your time, we wish you happy holidays and offer you the following gifts from us (yeah, maybe these weren't on your list, but they should have been!).
New Version of WildVoice Studio
We're very pleased to announce the immediate availability
of WildVoice Studio Beta 3. Just
download and install.
This version has been completely overhauled to improve
its performance. Now you can record, play multiple
background tracks and sound effects, use the
visualizations, rub your belly, and chew gum all at
the same time.

We've added some new features, fixed some old bugs,
and made Studio easier to use and more accessible.
We thought we'd have to make some sacrifices in the
design to speed things up and fix bugs, but it ended
up prettier than before, too.
Direct publishing to WildVoice.com
is the biggest change you'll notice. Recording and
publishing has never been this easy, if we do say
so ourselves. Now, after you're finished recording,
just click "Save+Publish." The wizard
lets you save your show, create and tag your MP3,
and publish it all to WildVoice.com. You can pick
a channel, set your post's title, show notes, tags,
picture, and exclusivity (hidden, visible only to
friends, etc.) right from within Studio.

If you already have an MP3 file that you'd like to
publish to WildVoice.com, just use the "Publish
existing file" command.
Channel Simplification
We've secretly replaced your old set of pages and
channels with a shorter, easier-to-use set. We kindly
asked the confusing "Spotlight Channel,"
"Journal," and "WildClips" to
leave the premises. Now, all of your posts appear on
your - you guessed it - "Posts" page. You
can use the new "Record or Write" button
in the dashboard at the top of every page.

to create written and recorded posts, which will be
placed in your "Posts" page. You can still
add posts directly to your other List Channels with
the "Add a Post" link at the top of each
page in a channel, above the channel title.

Or, you can add an existing posts to a List Channel
using the "Post - Add to Channel" menu.

Friendly URLs
We've also greatly simplified our URLs, so now your
pages will have friendlier addresses that reflect
their content. Pages can now be addressed with a
URL like this:
http://www.wildvoice.com/Username/ Channel-Name/Post-Title
You can use this friendly format to reach a member's
home page, any of their channels, and their
individual posts. Here are some examples:
"Home" page: http://www.wildvoice.com/plasticparachute
"Posts" channel: http://www.wildvoice.com/plasticparachute/Posts
Single Post: http://www.wildvoice.com/plasticparachute/Posts/ Plastic-Parachute-More-Music-We-Love
Thanks Again!
We still have more improvements and updates,
so keep checking back. If there's something
we're not doing, please let us know.
Post your comments in the
forums
or send us e-mail at support @ WildVoice.com.
Thanks,
Michael Levy http://www.wildvoice.com/ |
