Distortion in your Podcast is usually caused by over modulation of your volume. This is similar to turning up your car stereo or TV too loud a volume. In podcasting, this happens when the volume or “gain” on what you are recording is set too high. WildVoice Studio includes a real time software audio compressor that minimizes clipping in most cases.
If you do have clipping in your Podcast recording, you can adjust the following in this order:
- Turn On the Dynamic button in the Master Mixer
- Lower the Master Mixer level
- Lower the Microphone level in the Producer Mixer
- Lower the Microphone level in the Windows Mixer panel
- Some microphones and headsets have a microphone volume boost switch on the hardware itself. If you are still clipping, lower this.
- Some sound cards have an additional microphone boost property, usually exposed in the Windows Master Volume control panel. If you are still clipping, turn this off.
