The WildVoice Newsletter - Volume 4
Tuesday, October 17, 2006
Hey Folks,
We hope you've noticed this month's changes already.
If you haven't, well, we're not going to be shy here.
Some of the changes look small, but together they're
going to make a big difference for
WildVoice.com members.
New Channel and Post Detail Page Layouts
There's an updated design for your channels and
posts within them. It makes it easier to navigate
and makes your stuff look better. The new layout
also includes a bunch of new features. Here's a
quick tour:

Play Count: All posts with media files
stored on WildVoice now display the number of times the
file has been downloaded or played by your listeners.
For existing posts, the counter is retroactive, so you can
go back and see how many people heard your old posts.
Duration and ID3 Tag Tooltip: If your media file
is in MP3 format, the duration of your show will be
displayed with the post. If you hover your mouse over it,
a tooltip will display some of your ID3 tag information
such as Artist, Album, and Title.
Clickable Tags: When tags are displayed
for a post, they are clickable and will show you a list
of all other posts with the same tag.
Blog Community Chicklets: Each post now
has Digg and Del.icio.us links to register items you like
with these communities. You can also claim your channel
as a blog in
technorati.
Post Author Info in Theme Channels: Now when a post is
included in someone else's theme channel, the author of
the post is clearly identified and their site banner
picture is displayed.
New Version of WildVoice Studio
The latest beta version of WildVoice Studio is Version
1.0, build 927. If you haven't yet installed WildVoice
Studio, this is a great time to try it. Just
download and install.
If you're already using WildVoice Studio, please
uninstall it before you install the new version.
What's new in WildVoice Studio? As usual, the new
version includes some new features and a bunch of fixes.
The big news is Automatic Gain Control (commonly known
as AGC). AGC is built into the Master Mixer's "Dynamic"
button. Now, as you're making your recording, getting
excited about what you're talking about, and your voice
gets louder, WildVoice Studio will automatically adjust
your level so you won't hear clipping or distortion
from your voice being too loud. If you do speak too
loudly, or there's a sudden loud noise while you're
recording, you'll see the master mixer label flash red,
and the master record volume will slide down to a
lower level.

Other improvements in WildVoice Studio include lots
of usability improvements like using the tab key to
navigate in the application, using the delete key to
quickly delete carts or clips, and using the up/down
cursor keys to navigate and select clips.
Thanks Again!
Many more improvements and updates are coming in
the next few months, so keep checking back. If
there's something we're not doing, please let us
know. Post your comments in the
forums
or send us e-mail at
support@WildVoice.com.
Thanks,

The Big Idea
Add Pictures to Stand Out on WildVoice
One of the best ways to make your channels
and posts really stand out is to add pictures.
Site Banner Picture: Sign in, go to your
site, find "My Site Banner" at
the top, and click "Edit". Set
"Include a Picture" to
"Yes" and upload a picture to
represent you on WildVoice. This picture
appears at the top of each of your pages.
It also appears when you're listed in
People+Shows search results, in the
"Who's Posting" summary on the
home page, and below each of your comments.
Channel Picture: Go to your
Spotlight Channel and click "Channel
Setup". Set "Use a Picture" to
Yes and upload a picture to represent your
Spotlight Channel. This picture appears when
your Channel or a post within it is displayed.
Post Picture: When you add
a new post, or edit an existing post, set
"Include a picture" to "Yes"
and upload a picture to represent this post.
This picture will appear whenever your post
is viewed, and when it is listed in
People+Shows search results.
You don't have to worry about the size of
the pictures you use. Just upload what you
have and WildVoice will resize and crop
it for you.
With pictures for your site banner, channel,
and posts, you'll look great on WildVoice.com.
